So it’s Day Four of my Go Sober for October challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support and I’m feeling a bit wrecked… OK, but it’s not because I’ve fallen off the wagon already but because I was up in the night with my little boy who is still teething his last one and a half molars/decided it would be more comfortable in Mum & Dad’s bed last night. Bless him. He’ll be two in a couple of weeks. We can’t believe it. He is growing so fast.
I’ve also received my very first donation (that isn’t from myself…) – thank you, Auntie! Great stuff. If you’d like to donate, just click this link and thank you so much. It’s all for a great cause.
On the downside, I am being taunted slightly by the activities of my other half. Hubby has been busy this week making his own craft beer. He belongs to the Hertford Brewers – a local group of very serious home brewers – and is making a Bavarian wheat or ‘weiss’ beer. He normally makes stuff from a kit and is therefore very excited about this.
It involves boiling a vat of malt extract and hops in the back garden in a scary contraption called a wort pan – as you can see from the photo. Thanks for supporting my sobriety, honey! Just kidding.
On the upside, the beer won’t be ready to drink for at least three weeks, so the temptation won’t be around for very long. In the meantime, I’ll be sticking to soft drinks and it will be good to have a break from all those lovely trendy but fattening IPAs with the weird names, like Rusty Ferret, Dead Celebrity Club and 3am Loo Break.
